David Beckham has surely assembled a competitive team this season in order to pursue a top-class finish in the MLS. With the likes of Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba already performing for the club, the addition of two new young bloods has strengthened the squad further.
Tomas Aviles, a 19-year-old physical and athletic center-back, who arrived from Racing Club for a reported fee of $6 million, is a highly-touted young prospect. He has capped Argentina at the U-17 & U-20 levels. Aviles is a good passer and dribbler with the ball, which will allow Miami to play from the back, and he is excellent with his aerial abilities, which make him a threat inside the box as well.

Facundo Farias, 20, on the other hand, is a versatile forward who can play on the wing or as a striker. With good dribbling and finishing skills, he can surely be a great asset to the club with incredible potential. Farias was bought from Colon, with a price tag of approximately $5 million.
Both Aviles and Farias fall perfectly within Inter Miami?s strategy for utilizing designated U-22 initiative spots, with MLS roster rules allowing up to three such spots. Inter Miami is completely filled out on their top-end acquisitions due to MLS roster rules. With Lionel Messi, Busquets, and Campana holding down the ?Designated Player? spots, the club consumed its three ?U-22 initiative? spots with Gomez, Aviles & Farias.
What?s next for Lionel Messi and Miami?
Due to MLS roster rules, Inter Miami will likely be unable to make any major signings in the near future. However, given the MLS’ history of finding creative solutions to roster challenges, it might be possible that they will find a way to bring in some big names. With rumors of Sergio Ramos and Andre Iniesta also in the air, it remains to be seen how Beckham and Miami could pull things off financially.
As Miami?s new-look squad takes shape, Lionel Messi and his teammates will be looking to extend their winning run and clinch a spot in the final of the International Leagues Cup on August 15, Tuesday.
Inter Miami CF will be in action again for the Leagues Cup semifinal when they face fellow rivals Philadelphia Union FC in Chester, Pennsylvania on Tuesday.
