Being the best player of all time is a weight that lays heavily on those who carry it. No one knows that better than former FC Barcelona star Lionel Messi, who is trying to leave his mark in France with Paris Saint Germain.
Everybody knows how great of a player he is, and if his six Ballon d’Or wins weren’t proof enough, Messi won the award for the seventh time this season, putting an exclamation mark on his dominance. However, things haven’t been going perfectly for the Argentinian forward.

Former PSG star thinks that Messi won’t make a difference in France
Messi’s transfer to PSG was marked by a lot of uncertainty; he had already agreed on a deal with Barca to extend his contract. However, the club couldn’t sign him due to La Liga regulations, and his arrival at PSG had an asterisk next to it.
Former PSG star Jerome Rothen referenced this when he revealed that he thinks Messi won’t leave a mark at PSG. Rothen also talked about the time when Messi went to Barcelona to see his former teammates and called him the “boy of another club.”
“Messi will not leave a mark at Paris Saint-Germain. He is the boy of another club, Barcelona, which is his life, and so is the city. Messi goes to Barcelona when there are days off. He is passing through; nobody expected him at PSG, not even himself to be here in Paris,” Rothen said.

Lionel Messi and his numbers for Paris Saint Germain
These statements might not be completely true, but the stats don’t help Messi’s case. Messi has played 14 games for the club in Ligue 1 so far and has only managed to score twice. He does have eight assists to his name, but his output has reduced drastically from last season.
On the other hand, the Argentinian forward has been on fire in the UCL. Messi has scored five goals in five games to take PSG to the knockout stages. It’ll be interesting to see if he can win it all this season, starting with their mouth-watering Champions League tie with Real Madrid.
