Manchester United finally got their hands on Cristiano Ronaldo and the Portuguese forward is back in the Premier League. The signing broke all kinds of records on social media as the club finally announced his signing today along with the shirt number he’ll wear.
The Premier League website officially listed Ronaldo as number 7 as it was finally confirmed that Edinson Cavani will drop the number. The Uruguayan forward wore the number for the Reds with great success. He contributed with vital goals last season and Solskjaer will count on him this season as well.

It has been reported that he will take Daniel James’s former number 21 shirt. James left United for Leeds United in a 28 million pound deadline-day move, 13 million more than Ronaldo’s fee. As a result, Manchester United fans will get to see their superstar in his iconic number 7 shirt.
Ahead of the announcement, there were rumors that Ronaldo will take the vacant number 28 shirt at United. He started his career at Sporting Lisbon and wore the number for two years before moving to United and taking over the iconic number 7. Moreover, United have struggled to replace the number 7 Ronaldo wore.
Players like Alexis Sanchez, Angel Di Maria and Memphis Depay have all tried and held the jersey, but to no success. Sanchez and Di Maria had horrible times in Manchester as both of them could never get going.

Cristiano Ronaldo might make his second United debut against Newcastle United.
Ronaldo is currently away on international duties as he’s likely to feature in Portugal’s three games during the international break. Portugal’s last match will be against Azerbaijan on September 7th.

Solskjaer has hinted that Ronaldo might make his debut against the Toons, as fans eagerly await their superstar’s first appearance after leaving the club in 2009.
