Manchester City v/s Queens Park Rangers

A new dawn was over the horizon. Manchester City had a new owner in Sheikh Mansour and the club was finally challenging their local rivals, United, for their first league title. However, they were behind by eight points with just six games left.

The club showed incredible spirit and beat United in the derby to go equal on points with just one match left. City were ahead because of their goal difference, and a win would be enough to give Roberto Mancini’s side their first Premier League title.

Pablo Zabaleta scored the opener in City’s final game against QPR and City were comfortably leading the match at half-time.

Sergio Aguero and the moment that made him a legend

Notably, QPR’s Djibril Cisse had plans to spoil City’s party as he grabbed the equalizer at the start of the second half. However, things looked better for City fans again, when Joey Barton was sent off for QPR. Yet, somehow, the relegation-threatened club rallied around and Jamie Mackie’s header went in to give QPR the lead.

On the other side, Manchester United were winning against Sunderland and looked like they would win the league. Still, City didn’t give up and threw the kitchen sink at QPR, culminating in Edin Dzeko finding the equalizer in the 92nd minute. However, a draw was not enough.

As City pushed for a winner, Aguero stepped up. Mario Balotelli’s pass found him almost on the edge of the box and the Argentinian forward took a touch before shooting. The ball went beyond QPR keeper Paddy Kenny and Martin Tyler’s “Aguerooo” resounded all across England.
