Gone are those days when Barcelona dominated world football. However, now the club is in a rebuilding phase with Xavi at the helm. Moreover, Club president Laporta has promised the fans to bring back the lost glory days, and he made a positive start for the same with Xavi’s appointment.
On the same page with the same ambition, Xavi brought back former player, Dani Alves, hoping to make utmost use of his history with the club. However, understandably, the next question fans ask is whether Xavi is getting the band back together, bringing Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta back to Camp Nou.

Notably, Laporta, in the meantime, did not rule out the possibility of the same.
Lionel Messi to return?
With Messi moving to PSG amidst the club’s financial crisis, things have not worked out for the Argentinian legend. Although scoring three Champions League goals is good enough, his performances in the French League have not been up to the mark. Thus, after Alves returned to the club, Laporta remains hopeful of Messi returning to the club as well.
“I don’t rule anything out. It happened with Dani, age is a number. They’re two great players. I can’t predict what will happen tomorrow, they’re still playing & contracted to other clubs. You never know,” said Laporta.

The return of Messi would do wonders for the club’s young stars, with Gavi, Pedri, and Ansu Fati coming through the ranks over the last few seasons. Another name drawn into the conversation is a club legend, Andres Iniesta.

While Xavi knit every pass together, Iniesta weaved his magic on the pitch. Close control, composure, and vision, Iniesta had it all. His influence on the Barcelona team cannot be underestimated, given the quality he had on the ball. He made all the movements and stretched defenses, with Messi sprinting in the pockets he created. Right now, he plays with Vissel Kobe, and despite being 37-years-old, he continues to play at the highest level for his club.
Messi and Iniesta’s return would be incredible for the club. Both these legendary players would provide fresh impetus to the team. With Messi already there before, the prospect of Xavi coaching him would be a treat to watch.
To sum up, Dani Alves will definitely prove to be a great signing for the leadership and character he brings to the dressing room. However, adding Messi and Iniesta would be a masterstroke from Xavi in reinvigorating the club back to its best. Do you think it is possible?
