Christian Pulisic is the most famous American footballer in the world. The 23-year-old forward captains his nation in all international games, and one would expect him to be a superstar for his club too. However, things haven’t gone right for him at Chelsea.
Pulisic has failed to claim his spot in the club’s starting eleven ever since he came to London three years ago. Injuries played their part in the first two seasons, but this season has been horrible for him. The forward has failed to find a place in Thomas Tuchel’s eleven who prefers to start German striker Timo Werner over him.
The fact that Timo Werner has flopped horribly at Chelsea is a graver statement on Pulisic’s form than anything else.

Will Christian Pulisic lose his captaincy for the USMNT?
The USMNT has made it to the World Cup in Qatar which will be held in December. While most fans don’t expect him to pull off a miracle and win the whole thing, a deep run in the competition is expected. With Pulisic’s form running dry at the moment, his captaincy will be a question for manager Gregg Berhalter.
The ESPN FC crew discussed the forward’s future at Chelsea and whether he needs to leave the club or not. Former Chelsea star Frank Leboeuf said that Pulisic needs to leave the club if he wants to retain his role for the USMNT.
“He was more influential with the national team than with Chelsea. I don’t think with the future of Chelsea that he’ll play a lot. If he wants to play next season, if he still wants to be Captain America, he will have to go find another club. He never showed that it was absolutely crucial to have Christian in the first 11,” Lebeouf said.

There was always going to be a lot of pressure placed on his shoulders given his stature in America, but if he can’t handle the pressure at Chelsea, it would be wise to find a new home.
