FC Barcelona is in a huge financial crisis. The Spanish club suffered the biggest loss in their history as they couldn’t register Lionel Messi due to La Liga regulations. Their wage bill was so high that registering their new players like Sergio Aguero and Memphis Depay was also a problem.

The situation was so drastic that the four FC Barcelona captains, Sergio Busquets, Sergi Roberto, Jordi Alba, and Gerard Pique, had to take 50% wage cuts. However, the club did succeed in registering all of its players before the start of the season.

At this point, both the previous highest earners at the club, Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann, left the club. Barcelona had to register a massive loss on Griezmann, who they sold back to Atletico for a loss of 80 million euros.

Now, Dutch midfielder Frenkie De Jong is the highest earner at the club, with wages of 354,000 euros. Sergio Busquets was the second-highest earner before he took his wage cut, but now, Sergio Aguero and Memphis Depay are joint-second on the list with wages of 230,000 euros.

Ousmane Dembele and Miralem Pjanic are next on the list as they round up the top five. Surprisingly, Pedri is the lowest earner in the first-team squad as he earns a mind-blowing 15,000 euros, despite being one of the club’s best players.

FC Barcelona are scrambling to reward Pedri with a new deal as several clubs would pounce at the option of signing the Spanish teenager. However, it’s highly unlikely that he’ll leave the club at this point.
