Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has one foot out of Manchester United after a humiliating 5-0 defeat against Liverpool at Old Trafford. This was another sorry performance from the Reds’ midfield and defense as they let in four goals before halftime for the first time in their history.

Mohamed Salah scored a hattrick and continued his sensational form for the Merseyside club. Diogo Jota and Naby Keïta put Liverpool up by 2 in 13 minutes, and it was all downhill from there for United. Paul Pogba’s red card was another low point for the club, as the team was increasingly frustrated.

The Norwegian manager is a legend at the club because of his time as a player. However, United’s disastrous performance didn’t spare him anything as boos rang around Old Trafford after halftime.

United lost their third match of the season after just nine games. A further two draws have left them long behind frontrunners Chelsea in the race for the Premier League title. The result was exceptionally bad for Cristiano Ronaldo, who had a goal disallowed in the second half.

However, his controversial foul on Liverpool youngster Curtis Jones was also a hot-topic after the first half.

Manchester United fans leave the stadium after halftime.

Hundreds of Manchester United fans left the stadium before even watching Salah completing his hattrick. The dreadful first-half showing was enough for some, while others stuck around only to watch their team submit to a dominant Liverpool side.

This result should finally be the nail in the coffin of United’s manager, who seems to be vastly underachieving with this outstanding squad. Paul Pogba was not on the pitch during the first half, which would United fans all the more reason for criticizing Ole. However, his red card won’t help his case.
