Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in world football, who have produced some of the legends of the game. However, not all players have matched the legacy that Steven Gerrard left behind. Liverpool’s very own, Gerrard spent 26 years at the club, coming through the academy to captain his boyhood club, before leaving them in 2015.
Notably, the legend was today back at Anfield, as manager of Premier League club, Aston Villa. Not to forget, Gerrard spent three incredibly successful years in Scotland, managing Rangers FC, before flying back home. Following a commendable job there, he now faced Liverpool, as a manager of the opposition.

Liverpool fans ecstatic as Steven Gerrard returns home
Villa had won three out of four games under Gerrard, before facing Liverpool at Anfield today. This was Gerrard’s first return since his departure and the Liverpool fans gave him a huge round of applause, along with a massive reception to welcome him back to his favorite club.
Gerrard applauded the Liverpool fans as well, and there was an aura of familiarity in the way he stepped out of the tunnel, onto the pitch. If he keeps going on this path, Gerrard might even find himself in the managerial seat at Anfield, replacing Liverpool’s current legend, Jurgen Klopp, if and when he departs, of course.

Aston Villa and their form in the Premier League
Gerrard started off very well at Aston Villa, winning his first game in charge at home against Brighton. He also beat Patrick Vieira’s Crystal Palace before finally losing his first game as an Aston Villa manager against Premier League champions Manchester City.
However, Villa bounced back to beat Leicester City, only to lose yet again at Anfield today. Given Gerrard’s trophy haul at Rangers FC, Villa fans are expecting great things from the Englishman. While winning a trophy might seem impossible right now, finishing in the top 7 in the Premier League is a realistic target. However, to do so, Gerrard will have to weave his magic like never before.
