In a video uploaded by Hayter’s TV on Instagram, Messi was seen accommodating the fans despite his own emotional turmoil. He signed some posters and shirts on his way out of Camp Nou.

The rumors of a breakdown between the two parties started four days ago. However, it all went down in a matter of hours and Barcelona’s official page put out a statement which revealed what went wrong.

Despite FC Barcelona and Lionel Messi having reached an agreement and the clear intention of both parties to sign a new contract today, this cannot happen because of Spanish LaLiga regulations on player registration,” the club said in the statement.

As a result of this situation, Messi shall not be staying on at FC Barcelona. Both parties deeply regret that the wishes of the player and the club will ultimately not be fulfilled,” they revealed.
