Manchester United was heavily reliant on Bruno Fernandes over the past two seasons. The Portuguese midfielder has taken the responsibility to single-handedly carry United to the Champions League spots as his goals and assists have helped United finish 3rd and 2nd in the last two seasons.
He started the new season in the same way after scoring in a pre-season friendly against Everton. He only played the first half of the match, and that was all Fernandes needed. His freekick was sublimely placed in the top corner, and Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford couldn’t even get close.

This goal took United’s lead to 3-0 in the first half as it was Greenwood who gave United the lead, capitalizing after Jordan Pickford spilled a header back from Lucas Digne. Maguire then thumped in a header to double the advantage from a Luke Shaw corner.
United did add another goal in added time as Dalot scored a looping header over Asmir Begovic. However, Bruno Fernandes’s goal was the best of the lot. Old Trafford was filled with 55,000 United fans as COVID regulations were eased in England.
The fans were ecstatic after Bruno’s goal, and they would love to see him do it again when the Premier League season starts. While United’s squad has improved a lot over the transfer window, Fernandes is still the talisman of this team.
How Manchester United will line up around Bruno Fernandes:
United signed Dortmund star Jadon Sancho and the French world cup winning center-back Raphael Varane to build on their second-place finish last season. Their English defenders Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, and Aaron Wan Bissaka, are already amazing players who will benefit a lot from Varane’s signing.

However, with the transfer of Jadon Sancho being completed, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can now have a world-class attack at his disposal. While Marcus Rashford will be injured at the beginning of the season, United will look to Jadon Sancho to provide the goals and assists.
Their forwards Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood will learn a lot from Edinson Cavani, who’ll likely lead the attack.
