The World Cup in Qatar is almost here and the USMNT have a few important questions to answer. Gregg Berhalter needs to figure out who’ll start as the team’s number nine and a reliable goalkeeper. It seems like Haji Wright can be the answer for the first problem.

The 24-year-old striker recently made his USMNT debut after having a fantastic season with Antalyaspor. Wright scored 14 goals in 31 appearances for the Turkish club while on loan from Danish club SønderjyskE Fodbold. His first goal for the USA didn’t take too long as Wright scored a penalty on his debut against Morocco.

Clubs that are linked with a move for Haji Wright

Given his incredible form and young age, Wright has a lot of suitors looking to acquire him next season. Seria A club Spezia have reportedly registered their interest for the USMNT striker and are looking to sign the young star.

Turkish champions Trabzonspor were also interested in him, but it now seems highly likely that Wright will join Spezia next season. His goal would be to break into the USMNT side and book his spot for the World Cup in Qatar.

If he does play well and keeps up his goal-scoring exploits, Gregg Berhalter would have a serious question to ask of his other number nines. Wright has had a good debut, and there is a great possibility that he can keep this form up next season as well.

USMNT and their options in attack

Currently, MLS forward Jesus Ferreira has pushed ahead in the race to make the striker’s spot his own. Ferreira recently scored four goals in one game against Grenada in the CONCACAF Nations League, joining a list of very few Americans to do so.

Still only 21, he has a bright future ahead of him. Other than Ferreira, young stars Ricardo Pepi and Daryl Dike might also make a case for themselves to start at number nine. However, Pepi is more of a winger, and other players like Gyasi Zardes and Sebastian Soto have failed to impress for their country.
