Given how various outlets linked him to cross-town rivals Manchester City and reports of verbal agreement with City, Ronaldo joining the ‘Red Devils’ was a big surprise.

CR7 who spent 6 seasons in the red half of Manchester truly transformed form an electrifying young winger to that of a superstar winger who scored loads of goals. He continued this incredible form in Real Madrid and despite turning 36-years-old earlier this year, Ronaldo has continued to be a goal-scoring machine.

Cristiano Ronaldo pays tribute to Sir Alex Ferguson after United return

After the confirmation of Ronaldo’s transfer to United, the Red Devils’ fans all across the world were absolutely buzzing. So was Ronaldo. Currently, with the Portuguese national team, CR7 put up an emotional post about his homecoming.

Mentioning how special his time was in Manchester, the 5-time Ballon D’or winner mentioned how glad he was to make his return to Old Trafford. In the last line the Portuguese forward line had a special tribute to his former manager, “I?m right here! I?m back where I belong! Let?s make it happen once again! PS – Sir Alex, this one is for you?”

Ronaldo and SAF certainly have shared an incredible relationship over the years. The Scottish manager gave multiple chances to the Portuguese young winger to flourish in his initial years. While many doubted whether Ronaldo could step up or not, if was Ferguson who believed the teenage phenom.

It certainly paid off as Ronaldo turned into one of the greatest of all time. While he did move away from United, he continued to have an immaculate relation with his ex-boss who was more or less a father figure for him.

The legendary ‘Red Devils’ boss might have also paid a huge role in Ronaldo’s return. According to latest reports by the Athletic, the 79-year-old was one of the key people who convinced Ronaldo not to join City rather return to United.

Not only that, the Scottish manager contacted the United board and superagent Jorge Mendes. With Ferguson along with former player chipping in, Ronaldo was ready to make his return. This is a return well worth waiting for. United fans will hope that CR7 can continue his goal scoring barrage.
