Cristiano Ronaldo vs Lionel Messi: The Ballon d’Or race
The editor-in-chief of France football, Pascal Ferre, is the key man to decide the esteemed awards. While winning the award seems like a distant dream for Ronaldo now, Ferre spoke about his motivation in winning the award.
“Ronaldo has only one ambition, and that is to retire with more Ballon d’Or than Messi. And I know that because he has told me. I think if you looked at the statistics of Messi and Ronaldo, you would see they score a lot of goals in September and October, when the voting is happening. This is not a coincidence,” said Ferre.

It is great to see healthy competition between these two legendary players. They have dominated the Ballon d’Or awards since 2008, with only Luka Modric winning it in 2018. Hence, Ronaldo won 5 awards while Messi is the record-holder with 6. Heading towards the recent award, the Argentinian is once again favorite to lift it.
With Sergio Ramos playing with PSG now, Ronaldo’s former teammate thinks Messi can win it once again.
