Virgil Abloh and his shimmering legacy
Abloh was the artistic designer of Louis Vuitton’s menswear collection, since 2018. However, one of his biggest contributions to the world of fashion was the founding of his own brand in 2012, Off-White. He was a trained architect and famously worked with American rapper Kanye West.
Virgil Abloh was an icon for the African-American community as he was the first African-American to be the artistic director at a French luxury fashion house. Following this astonishing feat, he was named as one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2018 by Times magazine.
Abloh passed away on November 28th, 2021, at the mere age of 41. He was secretly struggling with cardiac angiosarcoma, a type of cancer, for the last two years. Even though he battled against it with all his might, sadly, it was fatal in the end. However, his legacy will live on forever with the likes of Mbappe and the millions of others he has inspired and impacted with his work.
