Newcastle United are having a torrid time in the Premier League this season. The club is sitting in 19th place in the league and sacking their manager Steve Bruce has done nothing to improve the club’s fortunes in the league. All of this is made worse by the fact that the club’s owner Mike Ashley recently sold it to a Saudi-led investment group.
The takeover was celebrated by the Newcastle fans with huge aplomb as it was a sign of good days coming back to Newcastle. However, things have gone from bad to worse as Eddie Howe’s side might find themselves in the Championship next season. They need to sign a few players to bolster their ranks, and with their transfer budget, everything is possible.

Kieran Trippier is the first name on Newcastle’s list
The English club has already found the man they want to target first. The transfer window opened yesterday and Newcastle wants to sign English right-back Keiran Trippier. They have submitted a formal bid to his club Atletico Madrid and talks between the two clubs are ongoing.
“Trippier now has to decide if he wants to leave or not. We will move on his decision,” Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone said.
Howe has previously worked with Trippier in 2012 when he was in charge of Burnley. He knows the quality of the Englishman and will want to get a deal through quickly to have him available as soon as possible. However, Chelsea might prove to be a thorn in their side.

Chelsea might reportedly rival Newcastle United for Trippier’s signature
According to Tribal Football, Chelsea is considering entering the race for Trippier’s signature. The UEFA Champions League winners are having a crisis at fullback after losing both Ben Chilwell and Reece James to injury.
Trippier would be the ideal signing for Thomas Tuchel’s side. Moreover, if Newcastle doesn’t make the move quickly, they might lose their first-ever transfer target.
