Manchester United fans are desperately in need of some good news as their club fails to perform well on the pitch. The appointment of Erik Ten Hag was a much-needed move that the club should’ve made a while ago, but just changing the manager won’t be enough.

The club is preparing for a mass exodus of players next season, with as many as 10 players rumored to leave the club. Stars like Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, and Nemanja Matic will be free agents in the summer and won’t sign new contracts.

Meanwhile, players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcus Rashford do have a year left on their deals but have been linked with a move away from the club. As a result, the responsibility of engineering the club’s rebuild would fall on the shoulders of Ten Hag, and he has a few ideas.

Manchester United want to sign Frenkie de Jong

According to a report from ESPN, United are looking to make a move for FC Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong. The Dutch midfielder had played under Ten Hag at Ajax, and his form for the club got him his big-money move to Barca.

Moreover, Ten Hag will be looking to sign a midfielder to replace the departing Paul Pogba, and de Jong might be the perfect fit for the squad he wants at United. Barca would want to keep de Jong at the club but have financial troubles of their own.

If United cough up the cash to sign the Dutch midfielder, he might leave Spain for Ten Hag’s club.
