Manchester United sank to a new low yesterday after losing to Liverpool by a scoreline of 4-0. It was still marginally better than the 5-0 defeat they had to endure at Old Trafford at the hands of their fierce rivals, and it was a sign of how things have gone at the club.

Interim manager Ralf Rangnick has been honest with the media at all times, and it seems like that won’t change any time soon. The German manager spoke about the state of United and compared it to that of Liverpool when they signed Jurgen Klopp.

We have to accept Liverpool are six years ahead of us now. When Jurgen came they changed at the club and lifted not just the team but the club and the city to a new level,” Rangnick said.

Rangnick revealed that United might sign ten new players next season

He didn’t stop there and talked about the massive rebuild that United needs in the next few years. In a post-match interview with Sky Sports, Rangnick revealed that the club might need up to sign ten new players to compete at the level they want to compete at.

That is what needs to happen to us in the next transfer windows. If you analyse the situation, it’s not difficult to analyse. For me, it is clear, that there will be six, seven, eight maybe ten new players,” he added.

They have been knocked out of all competitions and will go trophyless for the fifth season in a row.
