Manchester United is historically one of the biggest clubs in the world, with a lot of commercial success and firepower. The club had a fantastic summer transfer window. They signed players like Raphael Varane, Jadon Sancho, and, of course, Cristiano Ronaldo.

United re-signed Ronaldo amidst much fanfare, 13 years after he left the club for Real Madrid. It was supposed to be the perfect homecoming for a club legend as United was looking to challenge for the Premier League title. However, things have gone horribly at the club.

United sacked their manager and appointed Ralf Rangnick as their interim manager to steer their season back on track. However, the German has been busy putting out fires at the club left, right, and center. A new one has arisen as Manchester United’s captain Harry Maguire is reportedly not happy with the role Cristiano Ronaldo plays in the dressing room.

A source for the Mirror UK talked about the situation at the club and revealed that Rangnick asked Ronaldo to mentor United’s younger players, which didn’t go down well with Maguire.

Originally, Ronaldo was asking players to back Harry. But the problem is the manager now wants Ronaldo to mentor all these younger players. That’s left Harry in no man’s land, as he’s the captain and having to say and follow whatever Ronaldo says, to keep everything sweet,” the source said.

Ralf Rangnick and Harry Maguire speak about the entire situation

United’s manager spoke about the situation and clarified that Maguire was going to remain as the club’s captain till the end of the season. He called the rumors nonsense and refuted any possibility of a problem inside his dressing room.

“I’m not frustrated because it’s not the truth – it’s absolute nonsense. Harry Maguire is the captain, it’s not an issue and hasn’t been an issue,” Rangnick said in the interview.

Harry Maguire wasn’t one to be left behind and posted a tweet addressing the rumors.
