It’s no secret that Manchester City are the best team in England right now. They have an amazing squad with world-class players in every single position. One of those players is Spanish centre-back Aymeric Laporte, who has been outstanding for the club.
City have a lot of depth in the heart of the defence with Laporte finding it hard to push his way through at times. John Stones and Ruben Dias had been the starters when Laporte was injured. Pep Guardiola also signed Nathan Ake, but the Dutchman has hardly featured. Laporte, although, has started to lock his place down.

Aymeric Laporte reacts to being compared with Andy Samberg from Brooklyn 99
The Spanish defender is known for his good sense of humour and wit. A football meme page on Twitter compared Laporte’s new hairstyle to the one Andy Samberg’s Jake Peralta had in Brooklyn 99. The Manchester City star saw the tweet and replied to it, calling it mean but accurate.
Thats mean 😒 (but accurate for now 😂😂) https://t.co/Jf017vVkPa

The defender was sporting a new look for the match against Chelsea. He had his normal hairstyle, but the tips were coloured blond like the hairdo Samberg’s character had when he was in prison in the show. Fans on Twitter did ridicule his hair, but his performance was top-notch again, like every time.

Laporte’s performance for Manchester City in the match against Chelsea
Laporte and John Stones both started the match against Chelsea, and it was one of the most important matches of City’s Premier League campaign. City were sitting at the top of the table before the match and Chelsea were in second place. A win over them would ensure that Chelsea would be left 13 points behind them.

The City defence was rock solid as both Laporte and Stones didn’t let anything through all game. In the end, Kevin De Bruyne scored the game’s only goal and helped City open up a 13 point gap at the top of the table. It’s highly unlikely that they lose the title now and it’ll be interesting to see when they wrap it all up.
