Mohamed Salah has been one of the best players in the world this season. While his form has slightly tapered off since the start of 2022, no one can deny the impact that he has had for Liverpool and Egypt in recent times. However, the Premier League club is in danger of losing its star player.
Salah’s contract expires at the end of next season, and if he doesn’t sign an extension with Liverpool, any club would be able to get him for relatively cheap. Moreover, he is massively underpaid compared to the other stars in the League and is also demanding a raise.

Jurgen Klopp has some good news for Liverpool fans
However, it seems like that situation won’t arise, as Salah is reportedly signing a new deal at the club. In an interview before Liverpool’s UCL quarter-final against Benfica, club manager Jurgen Klopp revealed a few details.
The German manager said that he was happy with the way things were progressing. He also added that the club was in conversation with Salah’s agent, and during all of the ruckus, Salah is still performing at the highest level.
“I’m happy with it because there’s nothing new to say. It is just good. The decisive parties are talking to each other and that’s all I need. For me, the performance level is important, how he brings players together,” Klopp said.

Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane might not be match-fit
He also shared an important detail before Liverpool’s tie. Salah and Sadio Mane had both played in the international break, and might not be ready for the match against Benfica. However, Klopp did add that there’s nothing to worry about.
“It’s a tough period for Mo and Sadio [Mane], coming back from international duty and being available again. We see him every day — there is nothing to worry about,” he revealed.

Incidentally, Salah and Mane played against each other to see which country would end up going to the World Cup, Egypt or Senegal. In the end, it was Sadio Mane’s Senegal that won the match and booked their place in the esteemed competition.
