Creating a squad with the best possible players is something several fans love to do. Just the possibility of the best players in the world playing in the same team is extremely fascinating, and most of these squads feature players like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
However, FC Barcelona’s number one Marc Andre ter Stegen doesn’t seem to think that. When he named his dream XI team of players he has played with, the German goalkeeper did not include former teammate Lionel Messi in the squad.
Fans were quick to catch on to this and brought up several reports that surfaced a few years ago, saying that Ter Stegen and Messi did not get along. However, it’s hard to see the link between these two things, and Lionel Messi wasn’t the only one who was missing from Ter Stegen’s team.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s surprising Dream XI
The German goalkeeper chose to go with a narrow 4-1-2-1-2 formation and chose German internationals Marco Reus and Mario Gotze to go up top. His four midfielders were all from Barca, namely Xavi, Iniesta, Frenkie de Jong, and Sergio Busquets.
His defense featured current Barcelona stars Jordi Alba, Gerard Pique, and Dani Alves, while German star Antonio Rudiger rounded out the team. He chose former Borussia Monchengladbach teammate Janis Blaswich to go in goal.
Fans did question how Ter Stegen failed to include the likes of Neymar Jr, Luis Suarez, and Manuel Neuer in his team along with Messi. However, the German goalkeeper probably added the German players because it was part of a video shoot for the German national team.
