Paris Saint Germain was supposed to be the best team in the world after having one of the greatest transfer windows of all time. PSG signed Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos, Gianluigi Donnarumma, and Gini Wijnaldum on free transfers and added Achraf Hakimi to their already impressive roster.
However, things haven’t gone as per the plan at PSG. They struggled in the UEFA Champions League and finished second in the group, behind Premier League champions Manchester City. Even though they are sitting on top of their league table with a lead of over 13 points over second-place OGC Nice, fans expected a lot more.

Arsenal are looking to poach Gini Wijnaldum from PSG
As a result of these subpar performances, players have gotten disillusioned at PSG. Chiefly, Dutch midfielder Gini Wijnaldum is one who has featured fleetingly in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting eleven. Now, Premier League club Arsenal is reportedly looking to sign him on loan in this January transfer window.
Wijnaldum has previously played for Liverpool and Newcastle United in England and has several good performances for the clubs. His high point was his two goals against FC Barcelona in the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League when Liverpool completed the historic 4-3 comeback over two legs. However, they couldn’t sign him to another deal and Wijnaldum had to leave.
He could be coming back to England now.

Arsenal and their form in the Premier League
The North London club have surprised everyone this season after the horrible start they had under Mikel Arteta. However, the Spaniard has managed to turn the tide and Arsenal are now sitting pretty in fourth place. While local rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, can still overtake them, the turnaround has been nothing short of miraculous.

The addition of Wijnaldum would add some more depth, experience, and quality in their midfield, as the Dutchman will definitely be an improvement on Mohammad Elneny. With a midfield duo of Thomas Partey and Wijnaldum, Arsenal can achieve great things in the Premier League this season, if the move does go through.
