Lionel Messi is one of the best footballers to ever grace the game. He has won every single major trophy that one could possibly win; all of them but one. The World Cup trophy has eluded the Argentinian forward, but he’ll get a chance to redeem himself this year.

The World Cup in Qatar is merely months away and Argentina have a really good squad this time around. The team won the Copa America in 2021, and have a good thing going at the moment. Moreover, they will play the winner of the Euros, Italy, in a match to prepare for the World Cup.

The Finalissima is a one-off clash between Argentina and Italy that will take place in the Wembley Stadium on June 1st.

Argentina’s squad for the Finalissima

Argentina’s manager Lionel Scaloni announced his squad for the match, and there were no surprises. He has stuck to the team that won the Copa America last year with very few changes to the squad. Players like Cristian Romero and Lautaro Martinez have had stand-out seasons for their club and will surely start the match.

Moreover, young stars Lisandro Martinez and Julian Alvarez are players for the future and might feature in the match too. Aston Villa shot-stopper Emiliano Martinez would start in goal if he recovers from the injury that kept him out against Manchester City last week.

Of course, no Argentina squad is complete without the addition of Lionel Messi. The Paris Saint Germain forward made it to the team and will lead his team out to win one more trophy.
