Lionel Messi spent over 20 years of his life playing for FC Barcelona, and he won every single trophy with the club trophy. After spending his entire career with them, his departure came as a huge surprise to everyone this season.

Barcelona weren’t able to register Messi due to La Liga regulations as his wages pushed their wage bill over the limit. Since then, Messi has been playing at Paris Saint Germain alongside his former teammate, Neymar Jr. However, there’s another former teammate of his who has been playing at PSG for a while now.

Xavi Simons, an 18-year-old Dutch midfielder, came up through the FC Barcelona academy, La Masia. Simons was one of the most hyped prospects of La Masia and tried to ask the club for a lot of money for his senior contract. However, the club didn’t budge and he left for PSG in 2019.

Lionel Messi warns Xavi against signing Xavi Simons

Currently, he’s going through the same problem at PSG as he is asking for more money. However, he has only made three senior appearances for the club. Moreover, he missed a decisive penalty in the Coupe de France, which led to PSG being knocked out of the club.

According to a recent report by Metro UK, Barca was interested in bringing Xavi Simons back to the club. However, the report also stated that FC Barcelona manager Xavi reached out to Messi to get his advice on signing Simons. Shockingly, Messi reportedly asked Xavi not to sign the youngster due to his attitude problems and lack of humility.
