Manchester United fans must be rejoicing after hearing that Erik Ten Hag is going to be their manager next season. The club announced his signing today, weeks after Ten Hag was first linked with the job. There is a lot of excitement in the United camp, along with a few reservations.
Ten Hag had been managing Ajax since 2017 and won two Eredivisie titles with the club. However, it was his great Ajax team of 2018 that got the headlines as they knocked out Real Madrid and Juventus to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.
While it was a great achievement, United fans would be pensive about their chances under Ten Hag, as the Dutch manager hasn’t had a lot of experience in managing big clubs.

Antonio Conte has some words of advice for Erik Ten Hag
Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has kept tabs on the entire situation and had some advice for the Dutch manager. Not to forget, he was initially linked with the Manchester United job himself, but talks broke down after a while.
Conte spoke about United’s second-place finish last season and mentioned how they have regressed despite signing the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho.
“For sure we are talking about a big club, an important club. Don’t forget that last season United were in second place and improve the squad with Varane, Sancho and Ronaldo. It’s strange but they’ve improved the squad and have done worse than last season,” Conte said.

Conte talks about the pressure at Manchester United
He went on to say that the Premier League isn’t easy as every team is looking to win the league every season. The pressure is high at Old Trafford, and Conte warned Ten Hag against taking anything lightly.
“It shows it’s not easy, particularly in England. In England it’s a big job for every manager, the level is so high. When you’re at Man Utd the pressure is massive. You have to fight to win trophies. It’s not easy because other teams have the same idea,” he added.
