The football world witnessed one of the most shocking transfers during this year’s summer transfer window. Barcelona legend Lionel Messi left Camp Nou for Paris Saint-Germain after winning several major honors with the Spanish side.

Hence, after Messi joined PSG in Ligue 1, fans expected the same.

Having the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, and Lionel Messi upfront, several fans expected the Ligue 1 race to be over even before it started.

Though PSG have a 13 point lead at the top, they also had their struggles in some particular games. And their new signing, Lionel Messi, has also experienced a big drop in his goal-scoring form following his move to the French side.

Recently, Lionel Messi had an interview with the Paris Saint-Germain magazine. In that interview, the PSG star talked about the increasingly competitive nature of the French league.

Messi said, “Ligue 1 has progressed a lot in recent years. PSG have contributed a lot to this. It’s a very competitive championship, where any team can beat you and hurt you.”

Messi and co. will be back in action this weekend against FC Nantes. A victory against FC Nantes will help to extend PSG’s lead at the top of the Ligue 1 table.

Has Lionel Messi found his form for PSG?

Following Lionel Messi’s shocking transfer to PSG, everyone expected Messi to bag in goals and assist regularly. Though Lionel Messi struggled at the beginning of the season, he seems to be getting his groove back.

The Argentine had registered assists continuously in his last three Ligue 1 matches. In PSG’s last Ligue 1 match against Rennes, he assisted Kylian Mbappe for a 93rd-minute winner.

Coming to the assist standings of Ligue 1, Messi is in the top 5 currently, having registered 7 assists so far. In his 14 appearances in Ligue 1, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner has 2 goals and 7 assists.

Though that is not a bad statistic, the PSG fans will certainly expect a lot more from Messi. With the business end of the season coming up, Messi needs to be at his best if PSG wants to win big this season.
