Sergio Aguero announced his retirement today as the Argentinian forward is suffering from a heart problem that restricts him from donning the field ever again. Undoubtedly, it was a sad day for all of his fans and friends around the world. As the news broke out, tributes poured in from across the globe. Amongst other messages of support and comfort, Lionel Messi’s words of courage were a reminder of the relationship the two Argentinians share.
Messi and Aguero have played several games together for Argentina, and their friendship has blossomed over the years. They finally won the Copa America this year and have also seen the lowest of lows when they lost the FIFA World Cup final in 2014.

Lionel Messi talks about his relationship with Sergio Aguero
The Paris Saint Germain forward uploaded a post on Instagram, talking about his friendship with Aguero and mentioned how they have played together for almost the entirety of their careers. He talked about the highs and the lows in their career and said how they united them. Moreover, he also highlighted Sergio’s achievements in his career, while addressing the unfortunate turn of events.
“With the great joy of lifting Copa America a little while ago, with all the achievements you achieved in England, and the truth is that now it hurts a lot to see how you have to stop doing what you like the most because of what happened to you,” Messi wrote.

He also talked about the fact that Aguero is a person who transmits happiness and that he’ll find joy in this next chapter of his life as well. Messi showed optimism for this new stage of Aguero’s life and said that he knows his friend will live through it all with a smile. Messi ended his post by saying that he’ll really miss Sergio Aguero on the pitch.
