The USMNT is one of the best football teams in the world, and while they do not enjoy the success that the USWNT enjoys, they still have a relatively good squad. However, things did go wrong for them when they lost to Canada in the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers.
The result had horrible implications for the team’s chances of qualifying for the World Cup in Qatar, later this year. The USMNT now has 18 points from 10 games, four points behind table-toppers, Canada, who have now more or less booked their spot in the World Cup in Qatar.

USMNT coach Gregg Berhalter talks about his team’s performance
The problems for the team were manifold. Canada pounced on the chances that the USMNT gave them and scored two goals from two defensive errors. Meanwhile, the USA couldn’t finish their chances and squandered the opportunity to beat their rivals.
However, USMNT coach Gregg Berhalter was satisfied with his team’s performance, regardless of the result of the match. Berhalter revealed that he was hurt by the result, but not the performance.
“It’s hard for me to remember a performance away from home this dominant without getting a result. So the result hurts, the performance doesn’t hurt,” the coach said.

Berhalter compliments Canada’s strikeforce and their finishing ability
The coach also talked about the fact that Canada didn’t dominate the match. The USMNT dominated all aspects of the game, like chances created, possession, shots on goal, and passing accuracy. Berhalter also complimented Canada’s strikers and their finishing ability, while adding that his team couldn’t do the same.
“I don’t think they dominated much of anything tonight, to be honest. One thing that separates Canada from all the other teams in (CONCACAF) is the quality of their strikers and their ability to finish a really small amount of chances,” Berhalter concluded.
