Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the greatest footballers of all time, and he’s still doing it for Manchester United at 37. The Portuguese star is the club’s top scorer this season and has won several matches for the club where he first began his professional career.

He did it this week in United’s Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur. United won the match by a scoreline of 3-2, courtesy of a hat-trick by Cristiano Ronaldo. This feat prompted a lot of the club’s fans to make bold assumptions about the game against Atletico Madrid, and the Reds are very confident right now.

Fans react to Ronaldo’s hat-trick against Spurs ahead of the match against Atletico

Ronaldo’s hat-trick was vital for United’s hopes of getting 4th place this season. However, it also gave them the much-needed momentum to go in this tie as the clear favorites. Several fans of the club were very confident and made jokes about Atletico losing to Ronaldo again.

After all, Atletico Madrid is Ronaldo’s favorite opponent out of all clubs. Ronaldo has scored 26 goals against Atletico in 36 games, along with four assists. Even more impressively, the Portuguese forward has scored four hat-tricks against the club and is the only player to score a hat-trick against Jan Oblak (doing it three times too).

One fan went as far as to apologize to the Spanish club for what Ronaldo is going to do to them tonight. It all could go horribly wrong for United, but history says otherwise.

Fans call Cristiano Ronaldo the GOAT of football

While some fans were overjoyed because of Ronaldo’s hat-trick against Spurs, a few others saw it coming. A fan account on Twitter predicted that Ronaldo would knock Atletico out of the UCL and added that the Portuguese star is the greatest player of all time.

However, not all United fans were focused on their number seven, as a few remembered Harry Maguire’s recent performances for the club. The club’s captain had been in poor form in the last few games for United and even scored an own-goal against Spurs to top off another sub-par performance.
