The GOAT debate has been in conversation in the world of football, for decades now. Notably, the two names that emerge as the rightful contenders of that title are Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. However, while the world continues to quarrel over who deserves that stature more, French star Kylian Mbappe knows his answer.

The French world cup winner was a Real Madrid fan growing up, who idolized Zinedine Zidane and Ronaldo. Hence, seeing Cristiano Ronaldo winning it all with Real Madrid, Mbappe was overjoyed. Ronaldo was Mbappe’s idol, and he has previously regarded him as the best in several interviews.

However, things change when Lionel Messi joined Paris Saint Germain this year. The Argentinian forward recently won his 7th Ballon d’Or and has been in fine form for the club in the UEFA Champions League, scoring five goals in five matches.

Kylian Mbappe calls Lionel Messi the best player in the world

This time around, PSG beat Club Brugge by 4-1 and Messi scored twice. Mbappe scored a brace too and in a post-match interview talked about his alien-like teammate.

It’s easy to play with Lionel Messi. He’s the best player in the world. He won the Ballon d’Or a few days ago. He scored two goals today, he is happy, and I hope he will help us in the future,” Mbappe said.

However, things have been tougher for Messi in the league, as he has only scored once so far. Although, he did get three assists in one match against Saint Ettiene, but other than that, the Argentinian forward has failed to meet the set expectations.
