Jose Mourinho is one of the most entertaining characters in the world of football. The legendary manager has made a name for both his managerial skills and his controversial ways, but the players who have played for his most successful teams revere him, like Frank Lampard.
Lampard was an integral part of Mourinho’s Chelsea in 2004, where the Blues took England by storm. They won the Premier League title two times in a row and broke the record for most points accumulated in a single season (95) in the 2004-05 campaign. They also let in a mind-boggling 15 goals in that title-winning run, which is still a Premier League record for the fewest goals conceded in a season.

Frank Lampard reveals Mourinho’s kind words after Chelsea sacking
Notably, Lampard has since followed in Mourinho’s footsteps and became a manager. He was at the helm of an impressive Derby side and almost took the club to the English top flight. His performances saw him join Chelsea in 2019, but he was later sacked in 2021, after a string of terrible results.
He talked about what his mentor Mourinho told him after his sacking in an interview with Gary Neville for the Overlap.
“I bumped into Jose around the streets after getting sacked. He had a mask on, he whipped his mask off. He came over and gave me a big hug, and he went: ‘Now you’re a real manager because you’ve been sacked’. Cheers. I loved it,” Lampard said.

Mourinho started very well with Roma and the club had some impressive wins, with Englishman Tammy Abraham showing his class. However, things have since gone down south, as the club lies in fifth place in the Serie A table, ten points behind league leaders Napoli.

However, things are slightly better in the Europa Conference League where Roma is in second place in their group, but two horrible performances against Bodo/Glimt have left little in terms of hope. Nevertheless, it’ll be interesting to see if Mourinho can turn things around and guide this Roma side to glory.
