The World Cup in Qatar is just around the corner and the USMNT is ready. They missed out on the tournament in 2018, but they are here to establish themselves as a force to be reckoned with on the global stage. At least, that’s what Gregg Berhalter would hope for from his team.
The USMNT have one of the youngest teams on the planet with most of the starting eleven being under the age of 24. Players like Christian Pulisic and Weston McKennie are the team’s best stars and are playing for big clubs in Europe.
The team isn’t perfect yet, but Berhalter has more than enough time to mould it together and make a deep run at the World Cup.

Jurgen Klinsmann predicts how the USMNT will do at the World Cup
The Americans are placed in a group with England, Wales and Iran. They are expected to finish second in the group according to the oddsmakers, finishing behind England. Former USMNT manager Jurgen Klinsmann thinks the same thing and spoke about their prospects in an interview with ESPN.
The former World Cup winner with Germany said that the Americans need to make it out of the group at the very least.
“It’s a must to get out of the group. That’s a must and anything else that comes afterwards depends on who you meet,” Klinsmann answered.

The key to success for the Americans
Speaking about their path after the knockout stages, Klinsmann said that Berhalter’s young team will have to stretch themselves to the extreme. He revealed that after progressing from the group stage, the USMNT can take it one match at a time depending on who they face in the latter stages of the competition.

“There are those moments in a World Cup where you have to go beyond your 100 per cent and really stretch it to the extreme and if you do that, the group has a great spirit, a good camaraderie, and then you can take it from one game to the next in the knockout phase,” he added.
