FC Barcelona is one of the biggest clubs in the world. Even though the club has struggled in the past few seasons, there’s no denying that they are improving with time. The arrival of Xavi has changed things for the better and he would want to lead Barca back to the top.

In order to do so, Barca needs great players in all areas of the pitch, and they have accomplished that to an extent. FC Barcelona has one of the best midfieldes in the world of football, with the likes of Gavi, Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, and Sergio Busquets.

It’s the other areas of the pitch that they need to strengthen. However, they should be fine in the goalkeeping department.

Ter Stegen won’t play for Germany

FC Barcelona has employed German goalkeeper Marc Andre Ter Stegen between the sticks ever since 2015. He has been recognized as one of the best goalkeepers in the world during this time, despite the occasional dips in form. This season, Ter Stegen has regained his form and has helped Barca stay at the top.

The same cannot be said for Germany though, as Bayern Munich keeper Manuel Neuer was the one who was starting ahead of Ter Stegen. However, that might now change with Neuer turning 36. Ter Stegen has the opportunity to start for Germany in the World Cup in December.

German coach Hansi Flick has similar ideas as Ter Stegen is being rested during the UEFA Nations League in the summer to help prepare him for Qatar. The goalkeeper was happy that Flick agreed with his decision to take a break and will try to come back strong.

Taking into account the World Cup in Qatar, we agreed this year that a break is important from training and matches,” Flick said.
