FC Barcelona have had a horrible time in the past few years. The peak of winning the treble in 2015 has now transformed into the low of playing in the Europa League this season. However, it seems like their tough times are now over.

New manager Xavi has changed the club’s spirits and turned the tide around. Barca won a lot of matches this season and looked good while they were doing it. However, the club’s finances are still a mess and they’ll have to sell a few players this season just to play by the La Liga rules.

It’s an unfortunate situation for a club of this stature. They were getting better, and now Xavi might have to start all over again.

Sergino Dest is leaving FC Barcelona?

Finding players to sell is the first order of business. The first big name in this conversation was Dutch midfielder, Frenkie de Jong. The former Ajax man has been linked with a move to Manchester United and Barca might sell him to keep their financial situation stable.

However, following him out of the door is another arrival from Ajax, Sergino Dest. According to a report from ESPN, Barca have put Dest up for sale after realizing that they can do better at right-back. The USMNT defender joined the club just two years ago and has struggled to find a place in the squad.

Barcelona would reportedly accept €25 million for the defender, and clubs like Bayern Munich might be willing to pay it too. Bayern had been linked with a move for him several times over the past two years, and this would be the perfect opportunity for them to pounce.

Dest and the USMNT

While things are clear at the club level, Dest is certainly the starting right-back for the USMNT. Gregg Berhalter has a lot of trust in the 21-year-old, and his versatility is a huge asset to the team.

It’s almost certain that Dest would go to the World Cup in Qatar. However, the defender is currently injured and would take a while to return.
