FC Barcelona was in a spot of bother this season after losing their captain and talisman, Lionel Messi, on a free transfer to PSG. The Argentinian wizard left a huge void in Barcelona’s camp and if reports are to be believed, the club has their eyes set on Erling Haaland to fill it.

The Norwegian youngster is already one of the best forwards in the world at the age of just 21. Moreover, he’ll be available to be bought for a relatively paltry 75 million euros after his release clause kicks in during the summer transfer window this year, something Barcelona could afford.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta makes a huge statement

Laporta has had a tough job on his hands trying to restructure the club and get the financials back in order. Moreover, the squad needs re-structuring and everything needs to be done carefully, which is easier said than done for the Catalonian giants.

This season started with Barcelona losing a lot of games in the UCL and the Spanish league and they sacked their manager, Ronald Koeman. FC Barcelona then appointed club legend Xavi to turn the ship around, but that couldn’t help them stay in the UEFA Champions League.

However, things are going to be different from next season as Laporta is planning a big coup and he’ll try to steady the ship. According to Marca, Laporta has reportedly told his colleagues that he’ll sign Haaland for the club. One thing that he has in his favor is the positive relationship he shares with Haaland’s agent, Mino Raiola.
