David Beckham is one of the biggest commercial stars in the world of football. He had a huge fanbase when he was a player, which only increased after his retirement and hasn’t stopped to grow yet. However, his ability as a player has been questioned by several over the years.
If you take a look at the clubs that the Englishman has played for, the list is mind-blowing. Starting out as an academy graduate at Manchester United, Beckham then went on to play for Real Madrid, AC Milan and Paris Saint Germain. He also spent some time at MLS side LA Galaxy.
However, English journalist and broadcaster, Piers Morgan, isn’t impressed by him at all.

Piers Morgan calls David Beckham a fame-hungry snail
Morgan was attending the Super Bowl in Los Angeles when he tweeted about LA Rams star, Odell Beckham Jr. He said that the American can actually play football, indirectly questioning David Beckham’s ability. Several people were angered by this, including English legend, Gary Lineker, who called Beckham a great footballer.
Morgan’s response was swift, as he called Beckham overrated and claimed that he wouldn’t make the bench in that great Arsenal team of 2003/04, during their Invincibles season. Lineker replied with a list of Beckham’s accomplishments, but that wasn’t good enough for the journalist.
“Take away the crossing & free-kicks, he was a fame-hungry snail with dumb haircuts who only won that much because of the truly great players around him,” Morgan said.

Morgan claims that Beckham was overrated
Piers Morgan didn’t stop there and called David Beckham overrated. He also said that the Englishman won’t make it into the squad for an all-time England XI. Moreover, he also said that he wouldn’t make the all-time squads for Manchester United, Real Madrid, Paris Saint Germain and AC Milan.

“I didn’t say he was bad, just overrated. Beckham would get nowhere near an all-time England XI and as for his 6 clubs, he wouldn’t make an all-time United, Real Madrid, Milan or PSG team & would struggle to make Preston’s. But on a positive note, he would get into LA Galaxy’s,” the journalist said.
