Chelsea’s pursuit of their formal player Romelu Lukaku is heating up. After their first bid of 100 million pounds along with left-back Marcos Alonso was rejected by Inter Milan, they will reportedly test the Italian champions again with an improved offer.

However, Chelsea’s manager Thomas Tuchel did not comment on the impending arrival of the Belgian striker, and he dodged all the questions about a possible transfer. The man who won the UEFA Champions League in his first season with Chelsea showed his respect to Inter Milan.

I will not talk about players who do not play in my squad. Romelu Lukaku is a fantastic player, but he’s a player from Inter, and with respect, I will not involve him in this situation,” Tuchel said.

However, the reporter pushed him further and asked Tuchel if Lukaku wanted to join his squad.

Everybody wants to come! Hopefully everybody. Not everybody, unfortunately, but I can imagine that a lot of players want to come and join. But like I said, we don’t comment on that,” Tuchel concluded.

While the manager refuses to comment, prominent football journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that the deal between Inter and Chelsea is closer than ever. The London club wants to get the deal over the line as soon as possible and is willing to offer Lukaku a yearly salary of €12m after taxes.

It’s a huge amount of money for one player, and it proves the ambition that Chelsea is showing in this transfer market. They want to build on their UCL win last season and challenge Premier League champions Manchester City for their title.

Romelu Lukaku and his impressive form in the Seria A

The Belgian striker performed incredibly well in the 2020 Euros and scored four goals. However, that was just a glimpse of what he can do, as he scored 24 goals and provided 11 assists in the 2020/21 season of Serie A. This impressive goal haul took his overall tally to 47 goals and 12 assists in just 72 games.

Additionally, his goals helped Inter Milan clinch the title for the first time since 2010. It’ll be interesting to see how this transfer goes from here, but wherever Lukaku plays next season, he’ll be world-class.
