Borussia Dortmund talisman Erling Haaland recently made headlines, bagging a remarkable feat to his name. Leading the charge for his side, he triumphed against Turkish opponents, Besiktas, kick-starting his 2021 UCL campaign. Notably, as the men in yellow put on a show, Haaland ran riots on the field, breaking an astonishing record on the way to glory.

Earlier this year, the Norwegian international became the fastest player to score 20 Champions League goals, as he did so within 14 UCL appearances. He overcomes Tottenham Hotspur superstar, Harry Kane, who took 24 games to do the same.

Reaching this milestone, he surpasses the Champions League goal tallies of many football legends.

Record-breaking night for Erling Haaland

Haaland scored his 21st UCL goal as his side faced the Turkish giants. With that, he overcame Brazilian legends Ronaldo Nazario and Ronaldinho in their UCL tallies.

Thanks to the dream start to his Champions League career, the 21-year-old has already surpassed the UCL goal tallies of many legends of the game. The Norwegian has more goals than Fernando Torres, Miroslav Klose, and Adriano, to name a few.

Nicknamed as a goal machine, Erling Haaland at this point is inevitable. With his recent achievement, he joins an elite list of strikers. To quantify his caliber qualitatively, have a look at this stat – Erling Haaland averages a goal every 63 minutes in the UCL. This is the best goals per minute ratio in the competition’s history among all players with at least 20 UCL goals.

The Borussia Dortmund youngster so far has had a blistering start to his career. Notably, he was also last year’s Golden Boot winner.
