Football is the biggest sport in the world only because of its fans and their passion. However, it can all go overboard sometimes, as history would tell us. One of these examples could be FC Copenhagen’s fans setting off fireworks in front of Dutch club PSV Eindhoven’s bus.
Setting off fireworks and other noisy objects in front of a rival team’s bus is an old tactic. Fans use this to stop the opposition to get a good night’s sleep. However, it didn’t work out at all for Danish club Copenhagen and former world cup winner, Mario Gotze, revealed why.

PSV Eindhoven put up a fake team bus in a different hotel
The PSV hierarchy realized that FC Copenhagen fans would try to disturb their players in the night, and hence, they came up with a brilliant tactic to outsmart them. They placed another team bus, at a different hotel to fool the fans. They took the bait and fireworks rained outside a random hotel in the city.
PSV star and former world cup winner, Mario Gotze, confirmed this when he was asked about it in the post-match conference. He revealed that it was on purpose and that he slept very well in the night.
“Yeah, we placed the bus at the other hotel, so it was on purpose. I slept very well,” Gotze said.

The Dutch club move on to the next round
After having a good night’s sleep, PSV won the match against Copenhagen with a score of 4-0, and Gotze got on the scoresheet too. The first leg was a very entertaining 4-4 tie between the clubs, and this win was a very important one for the club.
The Eredivisie club will face Premier League club, Leicester City, in the next round of the Europa Conference League. They have a good chance of winning the entire thing as Leicester City and Roma are the only two teams with a squad good enough to beat them.
