FC Barcelona is one of the most famous clubs on the planet, with a huge fan base. Their hold on today’s football-watching fans wasn’t so strong before the 21st century, when Real Madrid was predominantly considered to be the greater team.
However, things changed after the turn of the millennium as several players like Xavi, Iniesta, and Lionel Messi bought the club to the highest forms of glory. They won everything there was to win in club football, with players like Dani Alves, Sergio Busquets, and several others all playing out of their skins.
But things have fallen since then as the club is currently in a rebuilding phase. Xavi is now the manager of the club and the performances of the club have improved a lot this season. However, Xavi is not the only legend who’s back at the club.

Dani Alves and his return to FC Barcelona
Barcelona’s financial problems are no secret in the footballing world as the club has struggled to pay off its debts, and several members of the squad took wage cuts. As a result, in the winter transfer window, the club was able to sign players like Adama Traore and Ferran Torres.
However, it’s the arrival of Dani Alves that was a remarkable deal. The 38-year-old right-back was playing in the Brazilian league before terminating his contract and signing with Barca for free.
Alves reportedly signed a deal where he earns a measly 155,000 euros per year, an amount which was lesser than several of the club’s player’s weekly wages. Now, the club has been impressed by his performances and, according to reports, they are going to offer him a new deal with improved terms in the summer.

Barcelona’s wage issues this season
However, any deal for Alves will be scrutinized, as the club still has a lot of work to do to keep their wage bill in line with La Liga regulations. Barca has also been linked with several players like Chelsea duo Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta, making a new deal for Alves less feasible.
