In an eventful outing against Arsenal, they responded magnificently as Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice to give them a sensational victory. Clearly, the players looked determined to impress their new manager, who was seated in the stands. Fred steps on De Gea
From a corner kick by Arsenal, Fred accidentally stepped on De Gea’s foot, sending him down in pain, while the ball ended in the net. Although VAR intervened, the referee had to make an important decision, and he allowed the goal to stand. This irked the United fans but could not muster up a defense, as it was their own player at fault.

After a lengthy check by VAR, referee Martin Atkinson awarded the goal that sparked massive outrage from United fans. But, the referee stood firm on his decision as the game resumed. Some experts claimed De Gea went down far too easily, and awarding the goal was completely justified. If an opposition player had fouled him, the referee would’ve canceled out the goal. Nonetheless, United won the game with Ronaldo at the helm.

After that goal, United took control of the game and came back from behind. The equalizing goal came just before the first half ended, as Bruno Fernandes slotted in a cool finish from a smart pass by Fred. As the game began in the second half, Ronaldo scored United’s second and his 800th goal for club and country; an incredible feat for the Portuguese forward. However, Arsenal immediately equalized with Martin Odegaard scoring a well-placed goal into the left bottom corner.
Yet, United came back as Odegaard conceded a penalty that saw Ronaldo stepping up and lashing a terrific strike in the middle of the net. Thus, United took home a great victory against the Gunners. Even though Fred and De Gea collided, the Red Devils came back to send an emotional goodbye to Michael Carrick’s time at United.
