Manchester United are preparing for a rebuild next season after appointing Erik Ten Hag as their manager. Current interim manager Ralf Rangnick will remain in charge of the club for the rest of the season and will try to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League.

United are currently sitting in sixth place in the league table, three points behind Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal, but both the North London clubs have a game in hand over United. Incidentally, United’s next match is against Arsenal, and if they fail to win it, they’ll have almost no chances of making it into the top four.

A top-four finish would guarantee Champions League football next season, along with an assurance that Cristiano Ronaldo would still stay at the club. The Portuguese forward might leave if United fail to secure Champions League football, and he won’t be the only one to do so.

Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford might follow Cristiano Ronaldo out the door

Marcus Rashford had been one of the most exciting prospects to come out of United’s academy in the last few years. However, the Englishman has fallen behind the pecking order at United and failed to impress in the few starts that he got. As a result, there have been a few reports linking Rashford to different clubs, but he might even stay.

On the other hand, Paul Pogba’s contract is expiring in three months’ time, and neither the player nor the club is intent on extending it. The French world cup winner has already revealed how dissatisfied his time at United has been, and is most likely to leave next season.

Players who are going to be out of contract

Players like Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, and Nemanja Matic are on expiring contracts too, and there’s no possibility of them renewing their contracts. United striker Edinson Cavani is also on an expiring contract and he’s certainly leaving the club too.
