Manchester United are going through a rough patch this season as the club is struggling to finish in the top-four in the Premier League. They lost to local rivals, Manchester City, in their league match yesterday, by a score of 4-1, piling more pressure on Ralf Rangnick.

The German coach is only the interim manager at Manchester United, but he has faced a lot of problems in his short tenure already. The club’s performances did improve for a while before dropping off massively again. And if that’s not enough, prodigal son Cristiano Ronaldo isn’t having the greatest start in his second coming at Old Trafford.

Ronaldo flew to Portugal after missing the Manchester derby

Rangnick has benched Ronaldo a few times since his arrival, and for a man who is not used to spending any time on the bench, it must be frustrating. Things got worse when the manager announced that Ronaldo was going to miss the Manchester derby because of a hip flexor injury.

Several people were skeptical of it all, including United legend Roy Keane. Moreover, Ronaldo reportedly flew home to Portugal after reporting his injury to the club. His teammates were surprised that he wasn’t in the stands to watch his team in one of the biggest matches of the season.

Notably, it is yet to be seen if Ronaldo will be fit again in time for United’s UCL tie against Atletico Madrid, a match they are the favorites in.

Cristiano Ronaldo might leave the club in the Summer

There are several rumors of Ronaldo thinking about leaving Manchester United if the club fails to make it to the UEFA Champions League. They are currently sitting in 5th place in the Premier League table, one point behind fourth-place Arsenal.

However, Arsenal have three games in hand, while currently performing in unbelievable form. On the other hand, United have a tough match coming up against Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur which has now become a must-win game for the Reds.
