Most people have written this season off at Manchester United. The club has failed to win any trophies this season, making it the fifth trophyless season for the club in a row. It was supposed to be the season where Cristiano Ronaldo took the club to the promised land, but it has inevitably fallen flat again.

United signed Ronaldo last summer in a move that caused shock waves around the globe. Despite his age, the Portuguese forward has been one of the few players who have played well in an otherwise mediocre squad.

Ronaldo has been United’s top scorer this season and has managed to score 16 Premier League goals in 27 appearances. Moreover, he was in fantastic form in the Champions League as well, scoring six goals in seven matches before United got knocked out of the competition.

Cristiano Ronaldo breaks another record

Regardless of how the season has gone for United, Ronaldo can hold his head up high with his efforts. United lost against Arsenal in a must-win game for the club today, and it was a dreadful performance by the Reds. However, Ronaldo still managed to score a goal, and never gave up until the final whistle.

His goal in the 3-1 loss was also a record-breaking one as the Portuguese forward joined the list of players with 100 Premier League goals. He also became the first player to score 100 goals in the Champions League, Premier League, and La Liga.

A heartfelt gesture

Ronaldo dedicated his goal to his baby boy, who passed away this week upon birth. He and his partner Georgina Rodriguez were expecting twins; sadly, they were struck by tragedy. Thankfully, their newborn daughter is healthy and well as the family would try and recover from their loss.
