Christian Pulisic has become the face of football in the USA. Jokingly called the LeBron James of soccer, Pulisic has made a name for himself by becoming the captain of the USMNT at 23. However, his success has been limited to his national team.
Pulisic is currently in London, playing for Chelsea FC. He moved there in 2019 but hasn’t been able to find his place in the squad. Injuries have played a big part in his troubles, but maybe there’s more to it than meets the eyes.
Pulisic has been fit this season, and Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has given him a few chances. However, the youngster hasn’t been able to lock a place down in the side.

Should Pulisic leave Chelsea?
ESPN FC journalists Sebastian Salazar and Herculez Gomez talked about the winger’s troubles at Chelsea in a segment for Futbol Americas. Pulisic has been linked with a move away from Chelsea for this summer’s transfer window, but nothing concrete has been established yet.
Salazar talked about his form at Chelsea and whether the pressure of his price tag has become too much for the young man. He also talked about the upcoming World Cup in Qatar and the importance of Pulisic in the USMNT squad.
“He really wasn’t a consistent starter or a prime player at Dortmund, and he hasn’t been a prime player, despite the number 10 on his back, for Chelsea. At some point, especially leading up to a World Cup, you want to be that player, especially if you’re the face of US soccer,” Salazar said.

Christian Pulisic and his form for Chelsea over the years
This season, Pulisic has featured in 19 Premier League games for Chelsea. He has managed an output of five goals and one assist in that time.
It’s still better than the four goals and two assists Pulisic managed last season, but much lower than his output in his first season with Chelsea. Under Frank Lampard, Pulisic scored nine goals and got four assists, showing a lot of promise for the future.
