Roman Abramovich’s predicament with Chelsea FC

Earlier, Abramovich had announced that he was putting the club up for sale after all of the political pressure, but apparently, he cannot do that now. The Russian won’t be allowed to make money from the club, or the club’s sale. Chelsea has to follow the government’s guidelines now, with a lot of strict regulations.

As per the new regulation, the club cannot sign any new players as long as they are in this current state, and they are also not allowed to give any player a new contract. This will directly affect Chelsea’s trio of Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger, and Andreas Christensen as their contracts are expiring in the summer.

Moreover, the club will not receive any money from the broadcasts or any trophies that they win. After the sanctions were announced, Chelsea’s kit sponsor, Three, suspended their partnership with the club. Other sponsors could follow in their footsteps too if things don’t change.

The sanctions also stated that the club could not sell any merchandise related to the club. One of the more shocking sanctions is the fact that the club will not be allowed to have travel costs over 20,000 pounds for any of their matches.

Moreover, they are not allowed to sell any more match tickets, only season ticket holders will be allowed to attend the matches. Shockingly, the club will not be allowed to have their away fans either.
