Very few players can hold an entire nation’s attention with the ball at their feet. However, Paris Saint Germain star Lionel Messi has been doing it for almost 15 years now. And the diminutive forward will try and do it again in December this year.
It’s 2022 and the World Cup in Qatar is almost here. Nations have seven more months to prepare their squads and give their best for the biggest competition in the world of football. Argentina would like to do the same, and the form of Lionel Messi would be the biggest factor in their success or failure.
Moreover, it has been widely believed that this could be the Argentinian forward’s last World Cup ever. Messi would be 39 by the time the next World Cup comes around, and it’s really hard to imagine him playing this game for five more years.

People want to see Lionel Messi play at any cost
With all these factors in mind, it’s easy to envisage why Argentina’s World Cup games would receive a huge amount of requests for tickets from the fans. FIFA announced that of the 23.5 million tickets requested by the fans for the World Cup, the final received the most requests.
The next four games that were in high demand included the electrifying group stage tie between England and the United States. However, Argentina’s three group stage games took all three other spots.
It’s remarkable how the knockout stages of the competition received lesser attention, but Messi is Messi and he has been the biggest star of the sport for a long time.

Argentina and their chances in the World Cup
Argentina finally looks like they have a good thing going after almost five years of mediocrity. While their attack is still more stacked than their defence, several good players have made the step up to help their country.
Midfielders Rodrigo De Paul and Leandro Paredes provide good stability along with Giovani Lo Celso playing as the CAM. Moreover, the country would be very excited with the rise of defender Cristian Romero. He will provide much-needed cover at the back.
