There are very few teams in the Premier League’s modern era who have dominated the domestic competition in the way that Manchester City has. A lot has changed at the club since the arrival of Pep Guardiola as the manager, and the club is now a behemoth.
City have won the Premier League title three times under Guardiola and have also won the domestic treble in 2018/19. Moreover, it looks like the club is close to winning the Premier League again this season, with one-third of the season still left to play. There’s only one club that can throw a spanner into the works, Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool has served as the perfect antagonist for City and even won the Premier League in the one season City failed to win it in the last five years. Liverpool were close to winning the title in 18/19 too, but they missed out on the title by two points. Manchester City had 100, and Liverpool only ended up with 98.

Pep Guardiola talks about Manchester City’s biggest rivals
In an interview after City battered Sporting Lisbon by a score of 5-0, the Spaniard was asked a question where he had to name one team that could beat his all-conquering City side on current form. Guardiola had his answer ready and instantly said Liverpool.
“Liverpool. Liverpool are 6 points behind us. They were our biggest rivals in the last seasons. They are always there. They are a pain in the a***. They are a fantastic team in Europe,” Guardiola said.

On the other hand, Liverpool are close. They have 54 points from 24 games, one game lesser than City. There is a very slight possibility that Liverpool can catch up to them, but for that to happen, Manchester City will need to drop points. Do you think the title race will further see twists and turns?
