The world of football has existed for over 150 years now, but it has quickly grown to become the biggest sport on the planet. The transition already happened in the 20th century, as players like Brazil’s Pele and Argentina’s Diego Maradona were treated like gods during their reign.
Times have changed since then as the age of social media has increased the popularity that footballers enjoy. Players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are considered the best players of all time, but that hasn’t eaten away from the popularity of Pele or Maradona, as most people treat them with a lot of respect.

English fan reveals his ‘unpopular opinion in the world of football’
Odds Bible is going around asking English fans for their unpopular opinion related to football. One fan had called Messi overrated in one of the most bizarre statements ever made, but this fan followed in his footsteps. He called Brazilian Pele overrated.
“Pele was overrated. He scored a 1000 goals against who? It’s true! Who did he score for? 1000 goals against Brazilian farmers in America, where there wasn’t even football. Pele was overrated,” the fan said.
While the anchor was laughing along with the fan, he was still a bit taken aback. He asked the fan if he considered Pele to be a legend, regardless of him being overrated. The fan did agree and acknowledged his accomplishments for Brazil.
“Yeah, he done everything for his country but, 1000 goals, club goals, for who? Where did he play? He didn’t do it on a cold rainy night in Stoke, did he,” he concluded.
